Each year, 826 Boston publishes collections of student writing through its Young Authors’ Book Projects. During a year-long literary experience, students read and study mentor texts, then draft, revise, and polish their own stories while working with 826 Boston tutors. A student editorial board edits, titles, and shapes the entire collection with the help of local publishing professionals and a professional designer.

We share these special collections through community celebrations, where students read excerpts of their work and sign books for their fans. These books are also available for sale in 826 Boston’s whimsical storefront, the Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute.

“My students came away from this project with 826 Boston with more confidence, a sense of accomplishment, and purpose.”
